Additional Considerations
There is an inherent relationship between this
credit and Credit EA-1 (Optimize Energy
Performance). By lowering the overall energy use
of the building (the goal of EA-1), the required
amount of renewable power to achieve this credit
is also reduced. Since energy conservation
measures are typically less costly than renewable
power (on a cost-per-kilowatt-hour basis) it is
important to implement measures that reduce a
building's energy use first and then size the
renewable energy system accordingly.
